Here is a transcript of the above article entitled :

Visit to the “other side”
by Justine Bailey, as reported in the VISITOR, December 7th, 2005

Visiting a medium was something I had never considered in my life – until last week when I agreed to interview Rhyl psychic Christopher Newton for a feature in the Visitor and after a brief chat about what his work involves, I found myself impulsively asking for a reading.

It was only when he carried out an opening prayer, which enables him to make contact with the spirit world, that it suddenly dawned on me what I was letting myself in for. Names of my family members I have lost flashed through my mind – who was going to pop up?

I began to question whether what I was doing was right – I don’t know why but I felt like I was a naughty child dabbling with something I shouldn’t be. But, it was exciting, and the more Christopher revealed, the more I wanted to know.

The first name he came out with was Elizabeth – it meant nothing, but it didn’t take long for him to start coming out with names and descriptions of people which did mean something. That was when my ears really pricked up and I suddenly found myself captivated, yet slightly unnerved.

I like to think of myself as being an open-minded person and as I had never before delved into the life after death issue, I had no foregone conclusions prior to arriving at Christopher’s home, although deep down, if I am honest, I was somewhat skeptical. But what he was telling me was seemed too uncanny to be coincidence.

Much of it is too personal to relay on the pages of the Visitor, although I will reveal two of the names he came out with were of grandparents and whqat he said about them was impressively accurate. He then went on to offer me “spiritual guidance” and told me of “talents” and “qualities” I have which I am currently unaware of.

From what I have said so far, it must sound like I am a complete convert to the concept of the psychic world and life after death - I wouldn’t say that. Some of what he said and the people he made contact with made no sense to me, although I have yet to act on his advice of asking family members whether these people mean anything to them.

I came away from Christopher’s house more intrigued than before I arrived. Despite the many accuracies within his reading, for som reason a part of me remains skeptical, albeit a smaller part.

I certainly don’t believe in it enough to act on the guidance he gave me. However, it may be a different story in six months time when I will be able to access whether any of his predictions have actually come true, so watch this space!

For more than 10 years Christopher has worked professionally as a psychic medium, clairvoyant, channeller and healer, providing private sittings, telephone sittings and absent healing.

He says he first became aware of his psychic abilities as a child, when he would see people other’s couldn’t. “When I was about four or five I would see spirit people and describe them to my mum and dad,” he said. “In my early 20’s I spent three years developing my gifts at the Spiritualist Association of Great Britain at Belgrave Square in London, under the guidance of the well-known medium Gay Muir.”

“I didn’t use the gift for some time and then my guide told me it was time to become professional.”

Since then Christopher has given public demonstrations and lectures at various venues and telephone sittings for people across the globe.

Having lived in Caernarvon for several years before recently moving to Rhyl, Christopher is already well established in that part of North Wales and is quickly getting that way here too.

“I was born in Kensington, London, but moved to North Wales 17 years ago,” he said. “I have always liked Rhyl, I know people run it down but I think it has got a lot to offer”.
